Cooler, Greener, More Resilient

Shade, trees, water and nature-based solutions are becoming central to urban climate strategy.

The fictional cooling plan follows a continuous route through a dense neighbourhood rather than scattering isolated green features. Trees shade pavements, a rain garden absorbs runoff and a drinking-water point sits near a busy interchange. Together they make movement through the area more comfortable during hot weather.

The plan also allocates a maintenance budget and records which species can cope with local conditions. Residents help identify places where shade is needed at different times of day. Resilience grows from the relationship between those small interventions, supported by care that continues after planting season.
