B — European leaders agreed on Tuesday to a sweeping package of measures to bolster the continent’s security and economic resilience, as renewed global tensions and persistent instability on Europe’s borders reshape the strategic landscape.

The plan includes higher defence spending, closer industrial cooperation and new investments in critical technologies, with the aim of making Europe more self-reliant and better prepared for a more unpredictable world.

“This is a decisive moment for Europe: a choice of strength, unity and a long-term vision for shared security,” writes the Ledger editorial desk in this illustrated scenario.

The agreement builds on discussions that have accelerated since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and it reflects growing recognition that Europe must do more to protect its interests in an era of strategic competition.
