How the design of everyday places can widen opportunity, strengthen communities and make public life more welcoming.
A city strengthens society through the places where strangers learn to share space. Libraries, sports halls, schools and dependable buses bring people into repeated contact without requiring them to agree on everything. When those everyday institutions deteriorate, the loss is social as well as physical.

The modest project illustrates a larger claim: civic trust grows when cooperation produces something visible and useful.
